Tom grew up just a few miles outside of Harlan, Indiana. He attended Woodlan High School and graduated in 2001. While in high school, Tom participated in basketball and track, along with developing a strong interest in agriculture. This interest in agriculture drove him to begin growing giant pumpkins, which in turn developed into a business and job through college. His achievements culminated in 2002 with a 1097.5 pound pumpkin which at the time was the all-time 11th heaviest officially weight pumpkin in the world. He still breeds and grows giant pumpkins as a hobby and still tries to sell a few of them.
After high school, Tom then attended Indiana University in Fort Wayne where he participated in several student organizations, including the Accounting Society, Finance Society, Mastadons in Action, and Campus Ministries. In 2006, Tom received a double bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance, and a minor in Mathematics.
After graduation, Tom began his career as a financial advisor. He holds his Certified Financial Planner™designation, health and life insurance license and his series 7, and series 66 securities licenses. He has a very disciplined approach to investing and has been very successful in helping his clients grow and protect their assets.
On a personal level, Tom met his beautiful wife while in school, during the spring of 2006. They were married in the summer of 2008, and now reside in Fort Wayne, where they also attend Calvary Baptist Church. In their non-working hours, they enjoy watching movies, playing cards, and spending time with their friends. Every fall after pumpkin season they vacation to Sarasota, Florida to recharge the batteries for another year.
